The Crown Estate has announced that it is intending to invest in wave and tidal energy generation projects. Government has a dreadful ability to back losers, but in this case, the research investment must be welcomed.
The only areas near us that could be affected are at Hurst, where shipping traffic could be difficult, and at St Catherines Point. Though technically outside the Solent, there is no doubt the Council of Solent Protection Society will be watching this development with aa lot of interest. Apart from anything else, if the Severn barrage project were to go ahead, it would have significant and positive effects on the Solent.
