Marine activities and their social and economic impacts are explored in reports published today by Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
The research will help ensure factors such as new jobs, tourism, leisure activities and coastal communities are all taken into account as we plan for the future of our seas.
MMO is leading on marine planning for English waters – where 11 regional plans outline a 20-year vision for activities in our marine area. The South Coast, including the Solent is the second area for which plans are being evolved. The whole suite of reports contains much fascinating information, though MMO are careful to acknowledge that much of the data is of variable quality.
Probably the most important of the reports is titled MMO South Coast Baseline Assessment . It can be viewed by clicking on the underlined text.
