Marine Planning update

Those of us who attended the marine planning workshop in Southampton run by the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) have received the feedback report. For anyone interested, it can be seen by clicking here.

We are pleased that the existence of a large populated island with an intervening area of protected water (the Isle of Wight and the Solent) has been acknowledged, and will require special consideration during the marine planning process.

Our report on the event can be seen by scrolling down this blog or by clicking on the heading “MMO Marine Planning Workshop, Southampton” in the posts list to the right of this column.

During the meeting we received an unsatisfactory answer to a question about the way in which MMO would deal with the ‘cumulative effects’ of multiple adjacent projects. We have invited MMO to comment and we are awaiting their response.
