The Solent is incredibly complex. Industry and leisure, culture and heritage, transport and security all exist in close proximity.
Environmental protection legislation overlaps with fishing controls, port operations of some of the biggest ships in the world,managed by 2 major and several smaller harbours.
THE MOVERS AND SHAKERS
Over time we hope to add a description of the major influences, including the ports, the Coastguard, the environmental agencies and many others, some of which are voluntary like RNLI and Coastwatch.
